Leaving isn't such a simple solution when these sites have virtual monopolies for online social interaction. For many people, Facebook is the best way to stay in touch with old friends and family. The site sucks but it's almost like boycotting the post office. It's sort of like the pre-cell phone landline companies and cable companies. Everyone hates them, but it's hard to just leave.
