It reminds me a little of how VR has been this disruptive force since at least the 90s. AR and VR do have applications but they still haven't lived up to the hype. The most ambitious mass market product to use them, Google Glass, flopped badly. Web 3 may still have potential, but it's obviously not going to be an overnight revolution. I think one issue is that there's a certain backlash as people are ODing on screens, phones, social media, etc.
