I think Facebook/Meta may not realize how unpopular it is. Since the basic app is free, there's not that much motive for people to quit. But expecting consumers to invest in software and gear needed for the metaverse is something else. It's not the best timing either as many people are struggling to buy necessities, much less costly entertainment.
